Extreme Recycling Day Puts Up Impressive Numbers

KCU’s Sustainability Team collected more than 10,000 pounds of recyclable materials during our April 16 Extreme Recycling Day for students, faculty and staff.

Participants were encouraged to drop off books, clothing, shoes, paper, Styrofoam, aluminum, eyeglasses, electronics and more. Volunteers gathered and sorted the items, which were then distributed to various organizations for recycling or reuse.

Here is a break out of the tonnage collected:
  • 2,083 pounds of clothing
  • 3,300 pounds of shredded paper
  • 4,730 pounds of electronics
  • 100 computer mouse pads
  • 300 pounds of discs (CDs, DVDs, etc.)
