KCU Works to Improve the Well-Being of Kenyan Community

Eight newly finished first-year students joined Gautam Desai, DO, professor of primary care, and Joshua Cox, DO, associate professor and chair of primary care, for KCU Global Health Outreach: Kenya, a medical mission performed during June and July 2015. The group saw approximately 400 patients, including many children who were diagnosed with malaria and needed to receive therapy for two to three days.

KCU was a sponsor of medications, as well as rapid diagnostic tests for malaria. Drs. Desai and Cox donated stethoscopes to the medical officers, and the library staff donated books, which were greatly enjoyed by the children. The mission also performed community service, including the planting of several trees. See more in our photo gallery.
