KCU and MSSU Partner to Provide Advanced Medical Acceptance Program

KCU and Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) announced the "It's Yours To Lose" (YTL) advanced medical acceptance program on Dec. 18, which will grant up to 25 MSSU students admission into the KCU College of Osteopathic Medicine each year following completion of MSSU curriculum.

In addition to fostering student success at both KCU and MSSU, this collaboration will help address access to medical care for Joplin and the surrounding rural communities by providing more high-quality primary care doctors for the region. (read more)

Dr. Jingsong Zhou Awarded Victor E. Speas Foundation Grant

KCU Research Investigator and Professor of Physiology, Jingsong Zhou, PhD, received a grant of $165,000 from the Victor E. Speas Foundation, which will fund continued research on muscle-bone crosstalk in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The study will focus on the impact certain organs can have on the progression of the disease.

Dr. Anne VanGarsse Named CMO at the Health Partnership Clinic of Johnson County

The Health Partnership of Johnson County (HPC) has appointed KCU Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Anne VanGarsse, MD, as its chief medical officer (CMO).

HPC is a federally qualified health center that provides valuable medical, dental and behavioral health services for under- and uninsured patients in Johnson County. As CMO, Dr. VanGarsse will lead and manage all clinical services at HPC, as well as supervise the clinic's providers.
