KMBC TV-9 Talks With KCU Researcher About ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Grant

Money raised from the thousands who poured icy cold buckets of water over their heads to support ALS awareness and research is now at work at KCU. Jingsong Zhou, PhD, KCU research investigator and professor of physiology, and Jun Sun, PhD, associate professor of biochemistry at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, were among 58 recipients of grants totaling $11.6 million from The ALS Association to study amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease. The two researchers are focusing their work on the impact of bone and the bacteria in the gut on the progression of the neurodegenerative disease. Watch the coverage  and read more.
